Mental Health/Substance Use/Anti-Violence Clinician

Clearwater, BC and Barriere, BC

Position Summary

This is a blended position of a mental health/substance use (MHSU) clinician and anti-violence counsellor through the Stopping the Violence program as part of our integrated counselling team.

MHSU clinician/counsellor

Providing services primarily with adult and senior population providing intake, brief interventions, assessments, counselling, integrated treatment planning and case management

Responsibilities will include carrying a caseload delivering services to those with a diagnosis of major mood disorders, personality disorders, and concurrent disorders (medical conditions, trauma, addictions and other disorders). Position will require competencies in collaboration with other agencies, working with physicians, psychiatrists and with local First Nation Band service team. Position will also include providing services to youth with problem substance abuse issues.

Stopping the Violence Counsellor

Providing services to adult women who are in domestic abusive situations and/or who have been in abusive relationships. Conducting initial assessments and co-creating safety plans. Provide psycho-education and counselling to work through affects of violence. Coordinating community resources and services to support women i.e. Victim Services, Shelters etc. Collaborating with community services providers including participating in inter- professional service provider groups and provide appropriate referrals to other services providers.

Qualifications

Masters Degree from an accredited educational institution in related field. Individuals with undergrad degree in nursing and social work may be considered with combined qualifications and experience. Two (2) years’ recent clinical experience related to mental health, alcohol and drug treatment with experience working with women directly affected by domestic violence is and asset.  Current valid class 5 BC Driver’s License.

Remuneration

Successful candidate can expect a comprehensive extended health package and competitive wages with other similar agencies. Relocation expenses may be available.

Community Support Worker - Clearwater, BC

Yellowhead Community Services Society, an integrated health/social service agency with offices located in Clearwater and Barriere, BC, is seeking skilled, knowledgeable and experienced individuals to provide community support to adults with developmental disabilities in both communities.  Shifts will be predominantly day shifts, but will also include evenings and weekends. The following positions are available:

  1. Job Skills Coach/Community Support Worker - 35 hrs/week - Clearwater
  2. Casual Community Support Worker – Clearwater & Barriere  

Degree/diploma in relevant field is preferred, however, individuals with related experience and/or a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply and will be considered.  Any offers of employment will be subject to a clean criminal record check. A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required. Current first aid would be an asset.

HOME SHARE PROVIDER

Clearwater/Barriere, BC - January 4, 2016

Yellowhead Community Services is looking for an individual or couple willing to become Home Share Providers for a semi-independent woman with a developmental disability in the Clearwater area. As a Home Share Provider, you will provide ongoing support and guidance building life skills, assisting with meal preparation, personal care, accessing community resources and services. Other responsibilities include; the safety and well-being of the individual and ensuring she accesses appropriate medical and dental care. You will also assist with nurturing positive relationships with friends, family and support network and encourage integration and inclusion within the home and community.  This is a 24/7 position, however additional supports will be provided.

Basic Requirements

  • Relevant training and/or previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities including FASD.
  • First Aid and CPR training
  • Valid BC driver’s license
  • Criminal record check

Be willing to obtain/complete the following:

  • A satisfactory home study
  • Three letters of reference
  • Physician’s letter of good health
  • Signed declaration of confidentiality
  • Signed release of information
