The Clearwater & Area Transit System is operated by Yellowhead Community Services in partnership with BC Transit and the Thompson Nicola Regional District.  Transit services are available Monday to Friday, with the exception of Statutory Holidays.  Our drivers are friendly, courteous and very helpful and often go the 'extra distance' to ensure riders of a safe, comfortable and timely service.

CLEARWATER & AREA TRANSIT:

Zones within the Clearwater & Area Transit System are:  Blackpool, Clearwater and Vavenby.

Fares are $1.50 per zone plus $.50 per additional zone, e.g., to go from Vavenby to Clearwater would cost $2.00; from Vavenby to Blackpool would cost $2.50.  Children under 5 years of age ride for FREE.

Tickets are available from our drivers and from our office.  Purchasing a sheet of 10 tickets entitles the purchaser to a 10% discount, i.e., pay only $13.50 for a sheet (10 tickets) of $1.50 tickets!

BC Bus Pass Program—for seniors and residents with disabilities on restricted incomes, there is an Annual Bus Pass that allows unlimited travel on our Fixed Route Service. To apply for this Annual Bus Pass, telephone toll free 1-888-661-1566.

Bus schedules*, showing maps of Blackpool, Clearwater and Birch Island, are available from the bus drivers and from Yellowhead Community Services office.  We will also mail you a schedule; simply telephone the Transit Line at 674-3935, state your request and provide your mailing address. After Hours Bus Service is available on a pre-booked, limited basis to community groups and organizations. For further information on costs and availability, call the Transit Line at 674-3935.  Two weeks notice is suggested to allow adequate time for arrangements to be made.

Wheelchair Accessible    

There are three components to our wheelchair accessible transit system which covers the area from Blackpool to Vavenby:

1. Fixed Route Service—this service is for everybody and provides three trips daily, Monday through Friday, between Blackpool and Vavenby, with stops in Clearwater, Birch Island and various other places.

2. Door-to-Door Service—this service is specifically for seniors and people with disabilities and operates twice daily ( 9:55 am to 11:00 am; and 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm), Monday through Friday. This service must be pre-booked by telephoning the Transit Line at 674-3935. Although we try to accommodate all requests, this service is on a first-come/first-served basis.

3. Kamloops Service— Health Connections The Kamloops trip is also for everybody and provides one trip per week each Thursday. The bus is available to residents from Blue River to Kamloops and must be pre-booked 48 hours in advance by calling 674-3935. Priority is given to riders with medical appointments, but all are welcome to ride. The fare for this trip is $5.00 per person, one way. RIDERS MUST HAVE EXACT FARE.  Wheelchair accessible.
