Artistic Coordinator

Requirements The ideal candidate:
Secondary school preferred.
Experience in retail and customer service roles as well as experience working with diverse groups of people preferred (1 year). Art studio experience is a bonus.
Neat, tidy and well organized with the ability to multitask.
Strong literacy and communication skills required.
Professional, fun and friendly personality, with the ability to build enthusiasm with guests under pressure and in routine situations.
Hard-working, efficient staff member who pays close attention to detail.

Maple Seed Collective is a community-based art space, offering the North Thompson Valley opportunities to engage in their creative side. Our aim is to foster an inclusive, safe space for everyone. We offer regular drop-in hours for ceramic painting, acrylic and watercolour painting, pottery wheel rentals and more. Outside of drop-in-hours, Maple Seed Collective offers classes such as pottery wheel throwing, clay hand building and stained glass. In all of our classes, safety is our priority. Maple Seed Collective also works with local artists to offer more classes in a variety of mediums and sell local art to tourists and local art enthusiasts. As a Home Share Provider, you will provide ongoing support and guidance building life skills, assisting with meal preparation, accessing community resources, and services. You will encourage inclusion within the home and community environment. You will be responsible for the safety, support, and wellbeing of the individual. You will ensure the individual is accessing appropriate medical and dental care. Also, you will assist with nurturing positive relationships with friends, family, and support networks. This is a 24/7 position; however, additional supports will be provided.

The District of Clearwater is inviting applications for the position of Skate Patrol at the North Thompson Sportsplex.

Interested applicants must be strong ice skaters and possess communicaion and public relationss skills. Applicants must be available to work evening and weekend shifts. Applicants must be 14 years of age or older and be bondable. Applicants ages 14 & 15 years must have the permissions of a parent or guardian. The position wage is $17.40 per hour. The position is seasonal part-time and will commence as soon as possible.

Position Summary
Tourism Wells Gray is seeking a team of Visitor Information Counsellors to act is the important first welcome and greeting of visitors to Clearwater and Wells Gray Park. A Visitor Information Counsellor is an ambassador to tourism in our province – an extremely important role. As a Visitor Information Counselor you will identify visitor needs, offer information and sell tourism products and services. Visitor Information Counsellors have a direct impact on the visitor’s impression of BC, encouraging the purchase of tourism products and services, longer stays and travel in all regions of the province. Be part of a fun and dynamic team, where you get to work and promote beautiful Wells Gray Park, Clearwater and Wells Gray Country! In this position you will receive Destination BC Visitor Services training and can be paid to enjoy and explore some of the tourism experiences in the area.

Responsibilities:
- Identify information needs in support of visitor requests
- Provide accurate information to visitors regarding destinations, transportation, accommodation, etc, options and costs, and    suggest suitable products in the community, region or province via mail, phone, email and in person
- Assist individuals or groups to organize vacation/travel plans
- Promote and sell tourism products and services
- Make accommodation, transportation, and guided trip reservations
- Distribute promotional materials
- Gather and record statistical information related to each visitor party
- Post current information of interest to visitors such as travel alerts, road, ski and
weather reports
- Stock and sell retail merchandise and handle cash transactions
- Maintain brochure racks and ensure adequate inventory is always on hand
- Aid in maintaining a clean, sanitized, organized and welcoming centre
- Comply with professional dress code and grooming standards
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures as outlined for the Visitor Centre
- Perform other administrative tasks as required

Visitor Services Manager

Tourism Wells Gray is looking to hire a Visitor Services Manager. Reporting to the Executive Director, the position is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of operations for the Wells Gray Visitor Information Centre(VIC). 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Leadership: Recruit and manager VIC staff and collaborate with the Executive Director to implement effective employee processes and resources for customer service execution. 

-Retail Management: Establishing and managing all facets of retail sales within the centre, including: adhering to a budget, purchasing/receiving/managing inventory, loss prevention, Point-of-sale system set up and troubleshooting, sales processes and  employee training. 

-Scheduling and Budgeting: Managing monthly schedules and budgets, controlling costs, providing accurate and timely updates and reports that aligned with organizational goals. 

-Operational Management: Manage retail sales, accounts reconciliation, office equipment and operational reporting. 

-Program Development: Assist in creating and delivering professional reports/presentations related to VIC and volunteer programs.

-Volunteer Coordination: Support the Executive Director with management of the Volunteer Ambassador Program. 

-Budgeting and Financial Oversight: Oversee VIC operational budgets and work closely with the bookkeeper to ensure accurate reporting. 

-Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate updates and ensure resources meet visitor needs, identifying gaps and implementing improvements. 

-Event Management: Identify, register and attend visitor-facing events as per annual planning. 

-Strategic Planning and Reporting: Collaborate with the Executive team to develop the Annual VIC Plan, retail program and reimagine visitor services(branding, resources, guide).

-Reporting and Communication: Attend weekly team meetings and provide monthly reports on the operations of the Visitor Centre. Work with the Executive Director to provide Visitor Services updates for the industry newsletter.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

-Supervisory or management experience in a tourism-related environment. 

-Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

-Ability to multitask, prioritize and work with minimal supervision.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite9Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Gmail Business Suite. 

-Experience in data collection, report generation and spreadsheet management. 

-Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations. 

-Ability to maintain a positive, welcoming environment for both visitors and staff.
