Requirements

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a related field
Registered (or eligible for registration) with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (RPF or RFT designation preferred)
2+ years of experience in silviculture, reforestation, or forest management
Strong knowledge of BC forestry legislation, policies, and best practices
Proficiency in ArcGIS, Phoenix, RESULTS and other forestry related software

Excellent project management, organizational and communications skills
Ability to work in remote locations and under varying weather conditions
Valid Class 5 Driver's License
Experience working with the First Nations communities and incorporating cultural values into forestry practices is an asset
Knowledge of the Simpcw First Nations community is valued

Duties

Simpcw Resources LLP is growing rapidly and is seeking a Silviculture Forester to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Forestry Manager, the Silviculture Forester will be responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring silvicultural activities to ensure to ensure the long-term health and productivity of forested lands. Your role will involve a combination of fieldwork and office-based responsibilities, utilizing various forestry software and analytical tools to enhance operational efficiency. You will play a key role in reforestation, stand tending, and forest regeneration while ensuring compliance with provincial regulations and best management practices.

Responsibilities:
Develop and execute silviculture plans, including site preparation, planting programs, spacing, brushing and thinning operations.
Conduct field assessments and surveys to monitor forest regeneration and growth performance.
Oversee contractors and field crews to ensure high-quality silviculture treatments and adherence to safety regulations.
Ensure compliance with BC forestry regulations, industry standards, and certification requirements.
Utilize ArcGIS, Phoenix, RESULTS and other forestry software for data analysis, reporting, and planning.

Collaborate with government agencies, Indigenous communities and other stakeholders on forestry initiatives.
Prepare reports, budgets, and funding applications related to silviculture activities.
Support research and innovation in silviculture practices to improve forest resilience and productivity.
Assist with other duties when required.

Duties

As a Truck Driver at Borrow Enterprises you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation and delivery of gravels, parts, equipment or containers to and from job/project sites. You have to be able to operate a tandem axle truck, work safe and execute every delivery with precision and care.
Responsibilities
• Operate a tandem axle truck to transport and deliver gravels, parts, equipment or containers to designated job sites.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and safe driving practices while operating the truck, ensuring the safety of yourself, fellow drivers, pedestrians and other road users.

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and other equipment to ensure they are in good working condition and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
• Safely load and unload the loads onto the truck, utilizing the hydraulic lift system and securing them properly for transportation.
• Collaborate with dispatchers, supervisors, and other team members to plan and optimize routes and schedules for timely delivery and pick-up.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pick-ups, mileage, and fuel consumption using provided log books or electronic systems.
• Provide exceptional customer service, interacting professionally and courteously with clients and addressing any concerns or inquiries they may have.

A Visitor Information Counsellor is an ambassador to tourism in our province – an extremely important role. As a Visitor Information Counselor you will identify visitor needs, offer information and sell tourism products and services. Visitor Information Counsellors have a direct impact on the visitor’s impression of BC, encouraging the purchase of tourism products and services, longer stays and travel in all regions of the province. - Gather and record statistical information related to each visitor party

Tourism Wells Gray is looking to hire a Visitor Services Manager. Reporting to the Executive Director, the position is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of operations for the Wells Gray Visitor Information Centre(VIC). 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Leadership: Recruit and manager VIC staff and collaborate with the Executive Director to implement effective employee processes and resources for customer service execution. 

-Retail Management: Establishing and managing all facets of retail sales within the centre, including: adhering to a budget, purchasing/receiving/managing inventory, loss prevention, Point-of-sale system set up and troubleshooting, sales processes and  employee training. 

-Scheduling and Budgeting: Managing monthly schedules and budgets, controlling costs, providing accurate and timely updates and reports that aligned with organizational goals. 

-Operational Management: Manage retail sales, accounts reconciliation, office equipment and operational reporting. 

-Program Development: Assist in creating and delivering professional reports/presentations related to VIC and volunteer programs.

-Volunteer Coordination: Support the Executive Director with management of the Volunteer Ambassador Program. 

-Budgeting and Financial Oversight: Oversee VIC operational budgets and work closely with the bookkeeper to ensure accurate reporting. 

-Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate updates and ensure resources meet visitor needs, identifying gaps and implementing improvements. 

-Event Management: Identify, register and attend visitor-facing events as per annual planning. 

-Strategic Planning and Reporting: Collaborate with the Executive team to develop the Annual VIC Plan, retail program and reimagine visitor services(branding, resources, guide).

-Reporting and Communication: Attend weekly team meetings and provide monthly reports on the operations of the Visitor Centre. Work with the Executive Director to provide Visitor Services updates for the industry newsletter.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

-Supervisory or management experience in a tourism-related environment. 

-Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

-Ability to multitask, prioritize and work with minimal supervision.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite9Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Gmail Business Suite. 

-Experience in data collection, report generation and spreadsheet management. 

-Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations. 

-Ability to maintain a positive, welcoming environment for both visitors and staff.

Wildfire Specialist-Forestry Project Coordinator

Simpcw Resources LLP is looking for a dependable and enthusiastic Wildfire Specialist-Forestry Project Coordinator who will primarily be responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing strategies and programs aimed at reducing the risk of wildfires within the community and surrounding forested area. In addition to the primary responsibilities the ideal candidate will also provide ongoing support for timber development and cutting permits. Reporting to the Forestry Manager, the role working closely with local governments, landowners, forestry professionals and emergency services.  

 

Responsibilities:

-Develop and provide professional advice on Wildfire Prevention Plans such as Fuel Management Prescriptions, Tactical Planning and Prescribed Fire Planning. Inclusive of compliance documents and agreements. 

-Ensure welfare and safety in all aspects of project implementation and identify training needs in fire management. 

-Develop of project proposals related to Wildfire prevention.

-Plan prescribed fire activities and use. 

-Provide additional support for timber development and cutting permits.

-Other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications:

-Post-secondary education with a natural resource management focus. 

-Registered Professional with Forest Professionals BC(FPBC)

-Minimum 2 years relevant wildfire risk reduction experience in BC.

-A positive team player with strong communication skills, leadership qualities and a safety-conscious attitude. 

-Experience working with First Nations Communities.

-Experience using the Fire Smart Principles.

-Background and/or experience in silvicultural systems, reforestation, wildfire/fuels management and ecosystem restoration would be distinct assets. 

- Valid BC driver's license and safe driving record.
