Mental Health/Substance Use Clinician / Anti-Violence Counsellor

Barriere, BC - Full-time - 35 hours per week

Position Summary

This is a blended position of a mental health/substance use (MHSU) clinician and anti-violence counsellor through the Stopping the Violence and PEACE programs as part of our integrated counselling team.

MHSU Clinician

Providing services primarily with adult and senior populations Conducting intake, brief interventions, assessments, counselling, integrated treatment planning and case management.  Responsibilities will include carrying a caseload and delivering services to those with a diagnosis of major mood disorders, personality disorders, and concurrent disorders (medical conditions, trauma, addictions and other disorders). Position will require competencies in clinical counselling and collaboration with physicians, psychiatrists and the local First Nation Band service team. Position includes providing services to youth with problem substance abuse issues.

Stopping the Violence (STV) Counsellor

Providing services to adult women who are in domestic abusive situations and/or who have been in abusive relationships. Conducting initial assessments and co-creating safety plans. Provide psycho-education and counselling to work through effects of violence. Collaborating with community services providers including participating in inter- professional service provider groups and providing appropriate referrals to other services providers.

Children that Witness Violence (PEACE) Counsellor

Providing services to children and youth aged 3 to 18 who have experienced violence. Conducting initial assessments. Provide psycho-education and counselling to work through effects of violence. Collaborating with community services providers and making appropriate referrals.


Master’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in a Health, Behavioral, or Social Science field relevant to the position. Two (2) years’ recent clinical experience related to mental health, alcohol and drug treatment and experience working with women and children directly affected by domestic violence is an asset.  Current valid class 5 BC Driver’s License & satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

Early Years Facilitator/Infant Development Consultant

Lillooet, BC

Auxillary Part Time Position (Maternity cover post)

Job Summary: Working with families of children under 6 years of age through the provision of various family centered programs. Hours are flexible within the 8:30-4:30 time frame. Contract is negotiable between 10hrs up to 25 hrs a week. Possibility for wage growth and benefits.


Early Years Facilitator (10 hrs/week):

  • Facilitate playgroups and nature walks with the precautions needed due to the risk of Covid19 spread.
  • Use other means of maintaining a community connection e.g. Social media, virtual groups, make up take-home crafts.
  • Support cultural connectedness and community wellness.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports as per program standards.

Infant Development Consultant (15hrs/week negotiable):

  • Conduct one on one home visits (in accordance to Province’s ‘phase’ mandates) and maintain visit records. Modifications include, virtual visits and phone calls.
  • Assess and support the needs of infant/toddler children and families.
  • Be knowledgeable of the available resources and support families with referral processes.
  • Assist families in planning and providing experiences to encourage growth and development of children, mostly through play-based activities.


  • Early Childhood Development Certificate/Diploma preferred, however with some educational background and experience there is a possibility for training the right candidate.
  • Valid BC driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Clear criminal record check.
  • Minimum two positive references.

Yellowhead Community Services (YCS) is looking for individuals willing to become Home Share Providers for adults with diverse abilities and wellness barriers in the Clearwater and Barriere area.

As a Home Share Provider, you will provide ongoing support and guidance building life skills, assisting with meal preparation, accessing community resources, and services. You will encourage inclusion within the home and community environment. You will be responsible for the safety, support, and wellbeing of the individual. You will ensure the individual is accessing appropriate medical and dental care. Also, you will assist with nurturing positive relationships with friends, family, and support networks. This is a 24/7 position; however, additional supports will be provided.

Basic Requirements:

  • Relevant training and/or previous experience working with individuals with diverse abilities.
  • First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • Valid BC driver’s license.
  • Criminal record check.

Be willing to obtain/complete the following:

  • Physician’s letter of good health.
  • Three letters of reference.
  • A satisfactory home-study.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certificate.

Early Childhood Educator - Eagle's Nest

Eagle’s Nest is located on the territory of Simpcw First Nation, a division of the Secwepemc Nation, in a small rural town called Clearwater. We honour all First Nations, Inuit and Metis children and families. Our holistic approach focuses on maintaining balance; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We provide an environment where children take pride in their cultural identity.

The Nest is licensed through BC Interior Health to provide care to eight children under school age. Eagles Nest is a setting where we view the life and education of children in a holistic way.
