Ministry of Forests - Senior Stewardship Resource Technologist

Wage $69,760.70 to $79,322.69 annually

Requirements

Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Forest Technologist with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to immediately transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to FPBC within six (6) months of employment. Applicants who are currently in-training may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification. Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be confirmed.

Post Secondary education such as a degree, diploma, or equivalent in a Natural Resource field.


Duties

-The Senior Stewardship Resource Technologist provides a range of technical evaluation and advisory services to support decisions on natural resources. These services also support the achievement and coordination of the forest stewardship aspect of natural resource management.

-As an analytical thinker, you evaluate resource use applications, review proposals, consult with stakeholders and partners, and make recommendations and approvals.
-You consult with stakeholders and partners on natural resource proposals/initiatives in a variety of areas, such as silviculture, tenure administration, and natural resource management.

School Bus Drivers - Relief

Wage $28.21 per hour

Requirements

The successful applicant must possess a valid Class 2 Drivers license with an Air endorsement and have three years proven previous driving experience. Applicants must be able to successfully complete the School District’s pre-trip evaluation and road test.

Applications should include, but are not limited to, the following information:
-Work history
-Indication of a valid Class 2 driver’s license
-An Air Brake Endorsement
-A recent driver’s abstract
Resume and Cover letter - required

QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferably Grade 12 supplemented by a Class 2 Driver’s License and Air Brake courses.
-Must be physically able to perform all duties of the position and pass an annual medical examination.
-Three years appropriate accident free driving experience, valid B.C. Class 2 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement and ability to successfully complete the School District’s pre-trip and road test.

ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with the public, parents, students, teachers, Principals and other employees of the Board.
-Ability to operate a School Bus and adhere to all safety and traffic regulations.
-Ability to maintain discipline on a School Bus.
-Knowledge of the mechanical operations of a School Bus

Duties

Under the minimal supervision of the Director of Transportation, incumbent is responsible for safely transporting students over assigned routes and for reporting any mechanical failures or accidents.

Typical Duties:
- Operates a School Bus to safely transport students over assigned routes including field trips
-Performs pre-trip inspection prior to departure.
-Keeps a log of extra trips taken
-Maintains internal cleanliness of the bus.
-Reports mechanical failures and accidents to the appropriate supervisor
-Maintains appropriate behaviour and completes Discipline Reports on problem students being transported.
-May be required to assist physically and mentally handicapped students when transporting them.
-Other assigned job related duties.

Transit Driver - PT - Lillooet

Yellowhead Community Services Society is a not for profit, charitable society that operates social service programs and rural Transit systems in the communities of Clearwater, Ashcroft and Lillooet. YCS is looking for a Part Time (20 hours/week) Transit Driver to join our team. This position will be based out of our Lillooet location.
Key Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Drive transit vehicles to transport passengers on regular fixed routes, door to door (Handydart) service, and Afterhours requests.

• Provide route information to transit passengers and collection of fares.
• Assist elderly passengers and persons with disabilities with loading/unloading, and securement of wheelchairs within established safety procedures.
• Maintain records and makes reports as required.
• Inspect vehicles and performs pre-operation, during operation, and post-operation checks.
• Complete daily routine cleaning as per checklist of interior and exterior of transit vehicles.

We operate out of Clearwater BC and run trips on the Thompson River and the Clearwater River in Wells Gray Provincial Park. We use a variety of rafts;
Oar frame rafts, Cat rafts, and paddle rafts and run every type of trip from a family-friendly float to one-on-one guided kayak trips through Class IV rapids.
